Hello! I'm Dave Odell, also known as Professor Duck. My journey in wildlife biology began with a Master's degree in Zoology and Wildlife Management from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, right here in New York. Before retiring, I dedicated my career to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (D.E.C) as a Wildlife Biologist and Regional Wildlife Manager.
My passion for waterfowl identification sparked early in my career. I noticed a gap in knowledge among hunters, birdwatchers, and nature enthusiasts – many struggled with accurately identifying different duck species. Recognizing the need for guidance in this area, I decided to create Professor Duck's Waterfowl Identification Series.
This series is more than just a resource; it's a tool to enhance the skills of hunters, bird watchers, and anyone interested in the rich world of waterfowl. Whether you're out in the field or simply enjoy observing from afar, these insights will deepen your understanding and appreciation of these fascinating birds.
